World History Class

Welcome to Modern World History Class!!!

World History is a study of world values and themes in history, literature, culture, religions, and geography. This year you will be studying the history and geography of the world with a focus on history of world religions and 1600s to today. In addition, this course emphasizes a refinement of the writing process of multiparagraph essays with reinforcement of grammar, usage, and mechanic skills, as well as vocabulary and spelling. These are integrated throughout the program.

During World History students will be studying Ancient Civilizations through the Age of Revolutions: religious, political, cultural, scientific, industrial, and more... Many topics will be explored: (the code number in brackets corresponds to the Arizona State Standards.

[1SS-P1, 1SS-P2, 1SS-P3] will be included in all topics through research and other projects, such as a personal Genealogy Project.

[3SS-P1, 3SS-P2, 3SS-P3, 3SS-P4, 3SS-P5] will be included in all topics through geography lessons and mapping activities.

Origins of religions: Hindu, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Shinto, Judaism, Christianity, Islam [1SS-E11], Ancient Greece & Ancient Rome [1SS-P4 (1SS-E12)], Medieval Europe [1SS-P4(1SS-E13)], English Revolution, Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution, American Revolution [1SS-P4], Industrial & Cultural Revolution [1SS-P5], French Revolution [1SS-P4], Age of Democracy [1SS-P4], Imperialism [1SS-P6], African History [1SS-P6, 1SS-P10], History of China [1SS-P9, 1SS-P10], History of India [1SS-P10], Latin America History [1SS-P10], History of Japan & South Pacific countries [1SS-P8], Russian Revolutions & Soviet Union [1SS-P7, 1SS-P9], Nationalist Revolutions [1SS-P10], World War One [1SS-P7], Years of Crisis [1SS-P7], World War Two [1SS-P8], The Cold War [ 1SS-P9], Middle East History [1SS-P9], World in Transition (Modern History)[1SS-P10].

World History Course Exit Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course students will:

(1) describe world values and themes evidenced in literature

(2)continue to look at imperialism and its effects on the world today

(3) create & color world maps in a study of world geography

(4)research various topics and how they relate to different cultures of the world

(5)utilize technological resources in research

(6)complete current events reports & presentations

(7) engage themselves in an analytical study of human rights

(8) study patterns and relationships between history and the present

(9)study major global trends from 1750 to tomorrow...
